Replacement Tail Section for Ghost 450-gram Javelins.

Ghost Javelins made in 2026 and after, are designed to have the tail section replaced if needed.

Ghost Javelins made prior to 2026 can be replaced, if the tail section has come loose and can be removed.

This Kit Includes:

  • New Tail Section
  • 3/32 Drill Bit
  • .050 Allen Hex Wrench
  • Set Screws

You will need (not supplied)

  • Low Speed Drill
  • Masking Tape

To replace the tail section, follow these steps:

  • For New Models, use a .050 Hex Allen Wrench to remove the 2 set screws holding the tail in place. remove the tail.
  • For Old Models, pull the tail section out.
  • Place the removed tail on a scale and weigh the tail in grams.
  • Order the Replacement Tail kit for SPEARWERX Ghost 450g
  • Email the weight of the tail in grams, taken in the above steps to customerservice@spearwerx.com

When your kit arrives:

  • Your kit will include- The Replacement Tail, a .050 Allen Hex Wrench, 3/32 Inch Drill Bit, New Set Screws
  • For 2026 and newer models -
    • Slide the new tail into the javelin so that it rests fully into the shaft
    • If the tail is too tight, remove a small amount of masking tape that is wrapped on the tail section. 
    • if the tail is too loose, you can add a small amount of masking tape to the insertable section of the tail to form a snug fit (tape not included)
    • Use the 3/32 drill bit to drill through the existing hole in the shaft and into the new tail deep enough to just penetrate the tail.
    • Use the included .050 Allen hex wrench and insert the set screw into the hole.
    • Turned Clockwise until the set screw is just below the surface on the shaft
    • Repeat process on other side of the shaft.
  • For pre 2026 Models
    • Slide the new tail into the javelin so that it rests fully into the shaft
    • If the tail is too tight, remove a small amount of masking tape that is wrapped on the tail section. 
    • if the tail is too loose, you can add a small amount of masking tape to the insertable section of the tail to form a snug fit (tape not included)
    • Place a piece of masking tape around the javelin shaft near the end where the tail is inserted. This piece of tape is used to prevent the drill bit from sliding.
    • Use the 3/32 drill bit to drill through the shaft and new tail piece to create a hole for the set screw. Only about 1/4-inch depth is needed. Hold the drill steady and perpendicular to the shaft. Drill Slow, not much force is needed.
    • Use the included .050 Allen hex wrench and insert the set screw into the hole.
    • Turned Clockwise until the set screw is just below the surface on the shaft
    • Repeat process on other side of the shaft.
    • Remove the tape from the rear portion of the shaft and make sure the set screws are just below the surface of the shaft
